Greetings from Creativity Choreographer – Deborah Thornton
At Imagination Celebration we are ALWAYS dreaming big, dancing with change, tuning into our community issues, and exploring the best ways to effectively learn. Our goals are to inspire children to love learning; to promote youth leadership; to re-energize and invigorate teachers; and to give young people the tools they need to cope with the fast-changing world in which they live.
To accomplish these goals, we bring together people from all backgrounds and disciplines: scientists, mathematicians, educators, artists, technologists, and business leaders. This diverse group of people all agree on one thing: to ensure that we are graduating problem-solving, creatively-thinking, emotionally mature human beings, we must innovate and adapt. In order for the future generation to compete in a global economy, in a world that is essentially shrinking, we must inspire children and youth to think, not just learn to give “right” test answers. We must educate students for their future, not based on our past - our old idea of education.
Corporate CEOs, national education leaders and organizational psychologists are urging quick action. If we want to improve math and reading abilities, we must make sure that students’ brains are stimulated by physical activity, visual engagement, hands-on learning and auditory discernment. These are richly and uniquely provided through ongoing experiences in the arts. To teach the whole child, we must engage them in music, movement and visual literacy.
By giving your child the experiences that are found in this Guide, you are not just giving them a fun experience. You are giving them a unique advantage in life. You are opening and expanding their minds, increasing their ability to learn and challenging them in new and exciting ways.So share the joy of creativity. Be curious. Explore. Use your imagination! Your children will thank you for it!
